Biography

Warren Richards was named AFS’s Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach in May, 2023. A Friends Schools League player at Friends’ Central in the early 2000’s, Warren continued his soccer playing career at the collegiate level at Rutgers University and Temple University where he played striker and winger.

As a coach, Warren runs the Philadelphia Union Summer Select program, where he helps cultivate young soccer talent. He has long served as the head coach for the Palumbo S.C. 2010 Boys White Travel Team, which he most recently led to championships at the Deptford Soccer Festival Cup (2022) and the Chase FieldHouse Futsal Cup (2023).

Why Warren coaches at AFS: ““I believe that a strong support system from the home and community is the most important part of developing great young men and women. I plan on bringing all my soccer knowledge to AFS and helping to build a soccer program based on hard work, teamwork and accountability. We will be a family and will work together to help everyone be the best versions of themselves on and off the soccer field. We will have fun, but we will also be competitive. Whatever we do we do it together.”
