About the Program: Middle School Wrestling at Abington Friends School often serves as an introduction to the sport for many of the participants. Open to any AFS student in 5th-8th grade, Middle School Wrestling’s practice sessions and matches are designed to ensure that wrestlers of similar weights and experience levels engage with each other. With a combined 30+ years of experience on the mat, AFS Middle School Wrestling coaches hope to help their young wrestlers become more skilled grapplers, more confident athletes and more supportive teammates, all achieved in a hard-working and fun daily environment. Several recent AFS alums who have continued their wrestling careers at the intercollegiate level began on the mats as a part of AFS Middle School Wrestling. The team practices or competes in matches 4 days a week during the winter athletics season.
