Congratulations are in order for four AFS student-athletes who were recently recognized by the coaches in their sport as worthy of All-Friends Schools League First Team and Honorable Mention honors. Bella Washington-Vasquez ‘23 earned All-FSL Wrestling First Team recognition due in part to her historic performance at the National Prep Schools Girls Wrestling Tournament on February 26 in Washington D.C.. After winning her preliminary matches, Bella became the first-ever AFS wrestler to score at Nationals, advancing to the championship in her weight class and placing 2nd overall to further establish herself as one of the top wrestlers to ever take the mat for AFS. Her teammate Clay Lewis ‘22 can also stake that claim as he, too, qualified for National Preps again this year while also earning All-Friends Schools League Wrestling First Team honors for the third time in his career. Hanna Rhoades ‘22 was one of nine players in the Friends Schools League to receive All-FSL First Team Girls Basketball recognition this season. Hanna led the Roos in scoring, averaging over 13 points per game, while making 59 three-pointers, a new program high. Riley Blore ‘23 earned All-FSL Girls Swimming Honorable Mention plaudits on the heels of her 3rd and 4th place individual finishes at FSL Swim Champs and her role in helping AFS’s 4×400 Relay squad score 18 points at last weekend’s Eastern Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championships. Congratulations, Bella, Clay, Hanna and Riley.Congratulations to AFS’s All-Friends Schools League First Team Honorees
