Biography

Jon Wessel returned to his alma mater in 2019 as an Abington Friends Middle School Physical Education teacher as well as Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball Team. He also serves as an assistant coach on the Varsity Softball Team.

Jon graduated from AFS in 2003 and was a member of the 2002-03 Friends Schools League championship basketball and baseball teams. He served as a boys basketball assistant at AFS from 2008-15 and was on the staff for the 2013 title. Additionally, he spent time as junior varsity & 3rd team head coach.

Jon coached in college at Millersville University & Delaware Valley University and spent two years as an assistant coach at Radnor High School. He is currently head coach of the Philadelphia JCC 14U Boys Maccabi basketball team.

Jon graduated Goucher College with a B.A. in Communications (2007), earned a M.A. in Social Work from Temple (2014) and received his Health and Physical Education certification from Eastern University (2018).
