The personal fitness program is run by physical education faculty and professionally certified trainers. Any student can participate regardless of their prior athletic tendencies, to learn critical life skills that form the foundation of a healthy lifestyle.

An AFS tradition for many years, Field Day brings together the whole community for a day of friendly competition. Students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 are divided into the Blue Team and the White Team for the afternoon.

One spring day, Eighth Grade Science students launched their environmentally-friendly high altitude balloons from this location. They worked in teams on Logistics, Project Management, Experimental Design, Technology and Predictions and Modeling to build, launch and track the paths of the balloons.

We celebrated the Grand Opening of the Richard N. Berman Athletics Center as a community in 2019. The opening of the new athletics center was the largest capital campaign the school has overseen in over twenty years.

The college counseling office helps guide our students and families through the college placement process starting in Grade 9. In fifth and sixth grade, Students elect to join either the Chorus or one of two Instrumental Ensembles (Concert Band or String Ensemble) and commit to a grade-level performance ensemble for the entire year. In seventh and eighth grades, students can join the orchestra and/or the chorus. Students as AFS have the flexibility and encouragement to explore all their interests and to be able to participate in the arts and athletics.

Lower, Middle and Upper School students meet each Wednesday as a division to participate in Meeting for Worship. A tradition of the Religious Society of Friends or Quakers to sit in silence from twenty minutes to an hour. If an attendee is provoked to share, they can stand up and speak their mind.
