The Robots are Taking Over

It's October at Abington Friends School, and the robots are on the move.

From the Upper School Robotics team (Roobotics) to our Middle School clubs, you can always find a student tinkering, engineering or coding something on our campus. Here are a few updates from the exciting world of robotics at school.

On Monday afternoons, the Middle School Robotics Club is working to build and program robots that can maneuver through an obstacle course. Students are using LEGO Spike kits, and while their core designs are similar, their coding ensures that there is ample differentiation in the movements, sensors, and even sounds of the robots.

AFS Roobotics brought their machine to this past weekend’s Ramp Riot event, where they competed to secure a place in the semi-finals of this off-season tournament.

The competition was fierce, with more than 34 teams competing...

...but our Roos beat the odds! Congratulations to Roobotics for securing 3rd place in this special post-season event
