AFS Theater Tackles the Edinburgh Fringe in Latest Issue of Oak Leaves

What happens when students take ownership of a 2,000-year-old story—and then bring it halfway across the world?

In the newest issue of Oak Leaves, we follow the an ambitious group of then-sophomores and -juniors on an extraordinary journey from the Black Box to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world. Their production of Iphigenia: Dead/Alive was devised, written, designed, and led by students, blending ancient myth with bold, contemporary voice.

Their hard work saw them flyering on the Royal Mile, learning from international artists, and performing day after day in a global theater community.

And the result was a four-star review from The Scotsman and a place among the top 10% of theater productions at the Fringe—the only high school ensemble to earn that distinction.
