AFS Winterfest 2018

Winterfest will be held on Tuesday, December 18 as it is traditionally held the day before the last day  prior to winter break. Winterfest is an all school program that honors the diversity of our AFS community by showing our different winter celebrations and holidays through skits, poems, songs, spoken word and music. The event is typically held in our gym but this year while our gym is under construction we are planning something that stays true to the message of Winterfest but will be a bit updated and different. Stay tuned…

To accompany the “update on an old tradition,” this year the 9th grade will be selling custom Winterfest sweatshirts. Winterfest sweatshirts were a staple in the AFS community for many years. They went away but the 9th grade is excited to be bringing them back!

The Winterfest sweatshirts share just as important of a message as the event itself. The 9th grade Winterfest sweatshirt committee decided to continue the Quaker theme of “witness” for the year and the message of the sweatshirt is “We bear witness through love.” The idea that Winterfest brings the community together and that having a sweatshirt with a common word translated into different languages spoken in the world emphasizes our diversity as well as our connectedness. This year’s sweatshirt will show the word “love” in multiple languages.

The design is a gray hooded drawstring sweatshirt with the AFS Winterfest logo on the front and love in multiple languages on the back. It is available in Youth Sizes through Adult Sizes.

Purchased sweatshirts will be available for pick up at AFS in time to wear on the day of the event. All of the proceeds from the sweatshirts will go to the 9th grade class or the Class of 2022 for events and programs.
