On October 15, the Upper School and Middle School welcomed speaker Alyssa Reynoso Morris for the yearly Evan J. Greenberg ’91 Lecture. Alyssa discussed sustainability and fostering environmental stewardship. She is the founder and CEO of Schools for Sustainability, Inc. after coming up with the idea to build an environmentally sustainable school at the age of 15.

Students from both divisions were engaged in the interactive lecture where Alyssa challenged the audience to think about what humans need to survive and then explained what it takes to help protect these resources.

When asked how to go about starting one’s own nonprofit, Alyssa answered, “I had worked for a lot of other nonprofits before I started my own…I also worked in the government sector, at the United Nations and nonprofits, both locally and also overseas. And it was through those experiences of working with other nonprofits that I learned the skills that I needed to start my own and I also accumulated mentors [to help me along the way].”

The Greenberg family sponsors this annual lecture to honor Evan J. Greenberg’s ’91 memory and to lift up his commitment to, and concern for, the powerful resolution of human conflict.
