Biography

Drew Benfer has been at Abington Friends since 2005 and is a history teacher in the Upper School as well as Dean of the 9^th Grade.

He is currently Head Coach of Middle School Boys A Soccer after having spent a decade at the helm of AFS’s Varsity Boys Soccer program. He has also coached Varsity Swimming and Middle School Baseball at AFS.

Drew holds an undergraduate degree in politics from Princeton University and a master’s degree in education from Harvard. For 2 years (1993-94) he worked for World Cup USA, Inc.

Why Drew coaches at AFS: “AFS stresses the importance of developing athletes and nurturing the individual. I am proud to be a coach at an institution that stresses joy, skill and sportsmanship for the student athletes. I strive to create an environment where players can hear the voice of the game and have fun while doing so.”
