Golf

From newcomers to all-league honorees, AFS Golf offers a tradition of growth, competition, and camaraderie.

Golf at Abington Friends School offers students a meaningful opportunity for personal growth through individual skill development and a strong sense of community. Our program welcomes all interested students in grades 9–12, as well as skilled 8th graders. The team plays 9-hole matches at local courses, with home matches held at the renowned Huntingdon Valley Country Club, designed by legendary architect William Flynn. Additional practices take place at The Abington Club, conveniently located within walking distance of campus.

A spring sport, the golf program runs from mid-March through mid-May, with practices and matches held five days a week.

Tee Off.

The Developmental Golf team welcomes newcomers and developing players, focusing on grip, stance, swing mechanics, and short game fundamentals. With regular practice at The Abington Club and alongside Varsity teammates, athletes gain confidence and enjoy the supportive, no-cut environment.

Refine your Swing.

Players deepen their skills through daily practice, learning course management, mental focus, and etiquette while competing in local matches. This stage blends individual growth with team connection, preparing golfers for the demands of Varsity play.

Compete with Focus.

Varsity golfers represent AFS in Friends Schools League matches at Huntingdon Valley Country Club and beyond, carrying forward a tradition of league titles and individual all-league honors. With a six-player lineup and strong alumni legacy, Varsity blends competitive excellence with sportsmanship.
