Girls Soccer

Our program takes students from the moment a second grader first laces up their cleats to the day they step onto Smith Field with the Varsity Girls Soccer team.
Girls Soccer at Abington Friends School is a dynamic and inclusive program that supports players from their earliest years of interscholastic play through to a competitive high school experience. Each season’s roster features a blend of returning players who advanced through the AFS program and new Upper School athletes, with all students, regardless of experience, welcomed and supported in finding their role on the team.

Develop Your Skills
The Middle School Girls Soccer Program serves as a strong foundation for the Upper School team, welcoming students in grades 5 through 8 to participate in a fall season emphasizing technical skill-building and tactical awareness.

Practice in Community.
With over 75% of recent Varsity players having come through the Middle School program, AFS Girls Soccer offers a true developmental path, preparing student-athletes for high-level competition while fostering teamwork, confidence, and a lifelong love of the game.

Never Stop Growing.

Program History at AFS
Varsity Girls Soccer at AFS began in 1996 when it replaced Field Hockey as the primary fall field sport. That inaugural season included a landmark 4–2 victory over George School in the team’s first-ever Friends Schools League match.
Since 2010, 41 AFS players have earned All-Friends Schools League honors, and in 2016, the program received the Harry Rodgers/Jimmy Walder Fair Play Award from the EP&DISOA officials’ association, recognizing the team’s commitment to sportsmanship and integrity.
