Lower School Curriculum

A young mind that is challenged is a young mind that grows

At AFS, we believe in developing learning experiences that provide opportunities for children of all ages to experiment eagerly and challenge their knowledge of the world.

Classroom Education

Lower School is a safe place where children feel at ease trying something new, asking lots of questions and trying again when things don’t go as planned.

Lower School teachers are instructors, listeners and motivators, so students leave Lower School with a growth mindset that prepares them to transition into Middle School.

Beginning in early childhood, all classes have regular interactions with print. AFS students develop an appreciation that reading and writing are treasured tools that will help them with anything in life. While focusing on the joy of oral and written language, our students become self-motivated in appreciating the joy and utility of the written word.
