Library Services
Welcome to the vibrant heart of Abington Friends School: the Faulkner Library!
The Faulkner Library is full of student activity and life. Its light-filled, inviting space is a hive of student learning and collaboration.
Middle School students are in the library often - checking out books, printing, or engaging in research projects. Upper School students use the Faulkner Library throughout the day to work independently or in small groups. It is rare to find the library empty or extremely quiet.
A Gorgeous Space
The Faulkner Library sits at the intersection of the Middle and Upper Schools, placing it at the heart of the campus. The 13,500-square foot library features a light and lofty main reading room, a large flexible meeting space which also serves as a quiet study space for students, study cubicles, and a creative book display that is refreshed weekly.
Bringing History to Life
Our 325+ year history is reflected in our school archives. We’ve begun integrating our history research projects with primary sources from our own archives which really brings history projects to life and motivates high-quality research.
Rich in Resources
The Faulkner Library collection consists of 20,000 print volumes, including a specialized collection of Quaker materials and our school archives. The library subscribes to many digital services and tools to help students prepare for college research. Both Middle and Upper School students use these resources in projects that are integrated into their classwork.
Reading for Pleasure
Our large print fiction collection, personalized reading recommendations, and creative and engaging book displays promote reading for all community members.

The Lower School Library
The Lower School has its own library located in the center of the Lower School. Library visits and activities are a regular part of Lower School life.
The Lower School Library collection houses 13,592 print volumes, as well as subscriptions to electronic resources aimed at younger students.
Library activities and technology classes are thoroughly integrated into the Lower School curriculum. Students from early childhood through fourth grade visit the library to borrow books, listen to literature read aloud, share their observations about books with each other, and learn new technology skills.
