Middle Schoolers Stage ‘Mary Poppins Jr.’

What did it take to stage the Middle School musical “Mary Poppins Junior” on March 8 and March 9? Theatre Teacher Mary Carpenter said 181 people were involved in the production, including 150 students, 18 parent volunteers and seven faculty members.

The musical featured student actors who appeared to be clearly enjoying their roles, singing and dancing with gusto and speaking in English accents. Those performances, along with the intricate choreography, inventive sets, multiple scene changes and period-correct costumes combined to produce a delightfully entertaining show. In other words, it was extraordinarily good — or, as Mary Poppins might say — supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
