AFS Faculty Member Appointed to National Environmental Education Panel

Rosanne Mistretta, AFS Director of the Center for Experiential Learning, has been appointed to serve on a national education panel that advises the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Rosanne has been named to the National Environmental Education Advisory Council for a three-year term.

She was selected for her expertise in developing K-12 environmental outdoor education curricula and will represent the council’s primary and secondary education perspective. Rosanne led the AFS Outside initiative, which helped develop innovative outdoor play spaces for students at AFS, and, working with outside partnerships, has spearheaded student efforts to improve the water quality of the Jenkintown Creek, which flows across the campus.

Rosanne is among about a dozen educators, business leaders, representatives from not-for-profit organizations and others with an interest in biological and environmental sciences from around the nation who were appointed to the advisory group.

The council will hold its first conference call within the next few weeks and convene in Washington in February.

Congratulations, Rosanne!
