campus life
We celebrate community through the individual and the individual through the community.

life at afs
Students engage each other and their teachers in their academic pursuits in the classrooms, of course, but the conversations are more than likely to spill out into the hallways, or carry over to the lunchroom.

Artists have opportunities to engage in the visual and performing arts in formal instructional settings as well as to demonstrate their skills through exhibitions of artworks, performances of theatrical productions and recitals of musical and choral pieces throughout the year. Our sports teams take to the fields as members of the Friends Schools League and compete energetically for their victories, but they never forget the customs of good sportsmanship and respect for their opponents that are the hallmarks of AFS athletes. And at the center of our academic week, Meeting for Worship in the Quaker Meetinghouse provides students and adults in all divisions the opportunity to sit in reflective silence for a period of time, listening for that—still small voice within— that brings balance and perspective to all our academic, artistic and athletic endeavors.
